| This area is labeled as a level 4.5 on the activity scale because on one occasion we had a level 4 situation, (Strong attempts at communication) and because of the nature of the surrounding area, it was considered to be dangerous. An individual that was with us became a temporary medium for a resident spirit. This individual wanted to get uncomfortably close to a decently high ledge. This posed the danger and the addition of the .5 to the level rating. Let me back up though and start from the beginning as I can remember.
Starting sometime in the last quarter of 2006, friends of mine (including the member Drake) would feel uncomfortable at times when out at this location, which we often go to to swim in the summer. These occurrences would happen after it was dark, and usually would happen as we were leaving. We would get a feeling of foreboding. As if some predator was nearby and we could sense that it was something that we should be worried about.
Drake and I often would have this happen (usually when it was just the two of us for some reason) and it got to the point where we would take flashlights with us if we were going to be out after dark. On one occasion, we could hear something following us, and our flashlights actually stopped working while we were using them. We got in our vehicle as soon as we could, and used the headlights for illumination. Nothing could be seen, and after we made some distance from the location, the flashlights started working again. (Just to make it known, we repeatedly tried the flashlights. We hit them, we made sure that the battery caps didn't become loose. Nothing worked until we were about a mile from the area. We actually had a couple odd things happen at the house that night as well, though I can't say for certain that it was related.
It was probably the next summer (of 2007) when we were made more sure that what was happening wasn't our imaginations, as others with us began noticing things too. On a few occasions, friends of ours (some who did not know about what had been happening) would get frightened by sounds in the nearby brush, or of claws scraping on rock, or the sound of something chasing them. The last two happened at night, and Drake and I were some distance from our friends, so we did not actually hear these things. When they started yelling and screaming though, we ran to them to make sure they were all right.
It was somewhere between the summer of 2007 and early summer of 2008 that Drake and I went out walking one night. It was a clear bright night, with a large bright (full?) moon in the sky. You could see everything great. We decided to walk the river, choosing to go the opposite direction than our usual. Edit: I forgot to mention that we thought we kept seeing something in the nearby brush, and two or three times thought we saw a pair of eyes, but they were blue, not the normal colors you would expect from any animal, so we ignored it after checking a couple of times and finding nothing. About 300' or so into our journey, we heard a splash to the left of us, in the river. It was a decent splash, not from a normal sized fish. A lot like a large rock. We assumed that it was a beaver or something and kept walking. Eventually we came to the end of the trail, and the only way to continue would mean getting in the water, so we turned around and started going back. We got back to the same area where we heard the splash, and then we heard one again! Very curious, we went to the river's edge to see more closely what was making the sounds. We were expecting to see something, again, like a beaver. As we were looking around, a HUGE boulder goes whizzing by my right shoulder, and into the water! It made the same sound as we were hearing earlier! Startled, we quickly turned, and saw nothing! This particular area of the riverbank is very wide and open. If there was a person there to throw in this very large boulder, (which I doubt could be thrown far by one person) we would have seen them. This boulder was somewhere between 1.5'-2' around. It had to way somewhere around 70 lbs I'd guess. Sure, I could throw it myself, but it would NOT get very far... maybe 5 feet. The bank is a good 50 feet at least to the river's edge, and the boulder went about 5'-6' out when it went in the water. Of course we were very scared, and quickly made our way out of there, looking everywhere as we went. We were both ready to shout out if we saw another thing flying at us. We made it to the vehicle and quickly got out of there. We immediately told a couple people once we got back to town, who had been hearing about what had been happening out there. Of course it was hard for them to believe what we were saying. Not that I blame them.
July 4, 2008- The 4.5 Incident I invited some friends of mine to go out to the river with a few other friends of mine. They agreed, and later that evening we all met up and went out to the river. While we were out there, I told these two friends about the above mentioned "rock story". They were very interested, and wanted to know if I would take them to that spot. It was 300' or less from where we were currently at, and I agreed. At this point, we split up from the others, who were not interested and were going to stay where they were and keep watch on us. The three of us then started out until we got to that same area as mentioned before. We stopped and I told them again what happened, this time showing them the area for visual reference. We began to notice a strange sense of being watched. I pulled out a necklace and began to use it as a pendulum to see if indeed there was some invisible force with us. We seemed to make contact through this instrument. After determining that we were "alright to be there" I asked that if there was someone out there with us, if they could please give us a sign. We each started feeling a pushing sensation from behind us. It became so consistent that we had to literally move our legs/feet to keep standing upright. This was not an unpleasant force. It merely was pressing against us, forcing us to keep balance. It began to push both forward and backward, making us sway little by little. It was somewhere in here that the female friend more or less fell straight down, but she caught herself before she could drop to her knees. We asked if she was alright, and she said she was fine, that she had just had a momentary odd feeling. The male friend slowly got more "intimate" with the spirit. That is to say that he began to say that he could see something in the brush, and that he thought it was trying to communicate with him. We kept asking him where it was so we could see it, but we were too far away from the brush to really know exactly where he kept pointing. We would shine our lights in the direction, but we never saw it. After a few attempts, he said that he thought that "it" didn't like the light. We turned our lights away, and after a moment or two, he started walking slowly towards the brush. He started talking out loud, trying to coax whatever it was out. The nearer to the brush he got, the more concerned we got. We finally told him that we were going to go back to the rest of the group when he had gotten too close for our comfort. We grabbed his hand and started taking him back to the others. He kept telling us that it was trying to get something across to him. He said that he was getting emotions from it, and that he could actually feel these emotions. He was very happy, and giggly, and then a little sad, then happy again. When we got him back to the others, we told them what had been happening. This is when he started walking towards the ledge that was nearby. He kept telling us that it was trying to show him something there, and that it was alright to let him go there. We all had a hold of him by this time, but we let him get a little close, just to see if there was in fact something there. The female friend was the first to see if after he pointed and said "there". It was his name, written on the rock, like what might be done with a large stick. It was at this time that we decided that we were all leaving. He began to have a fit, he didn't want to leave. We ended up more or less dragging him out of there, and although there were two of us doing this, he seemed to actually pull us back in the other direction at times. Once we got him in the car, wailing, we took the long way out of there, since going the normal way would have taken us back in the direction that he wanted to go. After a time I realized that I probably wasn't looking at my friend anymore, so I asked who I was talking to. I got an answer, and it wasn't my friend. (I am cutting this short for now, because I have other things to take care of tonight, but I will add in the missing details later.) I had a conversation with this person for about 15-20 minutes, and learned a lot about them, and how they died. I am currently still looking into this information, finding that it is actually decently difficult to find a specific event in the obituaries when you only have about half of the information you need.
Since 2008
I went back out with a couple others on Oct 31, 2008 to determine the fate of the child-spirit I had talked to on July 4. When I went back to the spot where my friend's name had been written, many splashes began in the river all around us. We quickly made our way back to the road after a couple minutes of me talking to the night air about my intentions. Once back on the road, I felt a lot more comfortable, and pulled out my necklace again, and started asking questions. This time I had come prepared. I own a voice recorder, and had brought it out with me to see if I could capture some audio. I was so happy to have the splashes to record (even though I was very worried). A female spirit seemed to mentally communicate through one of the friends with me, and the pendulum was giving the same responses. (There will be more details on this one as well) Unfortunately, when I went home and immediately started listening to the recording, I realized I had made some rookie mistakes. My recorder was in my chest pocket for most of the time, and I got A LOT of interfering noise from my own clothing. I couldn't make out the splashes, or the scream that we heard either. I still have it though, and I'll post it up here after I get it moved to my computer later. (BEFORE YOU COMMENT ME ON IT, YES I KNOW IT'S A CRAPPY RECORDING. LOL, SORRY, I'LL GET A BETTER ONE NEXT TIME I HOPE.) |
